MISSION, VISION, OBJECTIVE AND CORE VALUES OF THE UNIVERSITY

VISION OF THE UNIVERSITY:

Pandit Sundarlal Sharma (Open) University Chhattisgarh, Bilaspur the State Open University in Chhattisgarh delivers;

• to take education to the doorstep of the deprived to build up the quality human resource base of the State,
• move towards the improvement of the quality of Open Distance Education & strengthen the networks using Emerging technologies,
• to promote and develop appropriate ambience to build International standard distance education scenario in the country,
• to fulfil the demands of the Learners to develop to their fullest potential in tune with the requirements of the twenty-first century
• to achieve synergy between academic, corporate and social areas to benefit all the stakeholders in general and students in particular
• to integrate national development global understanding& respect towards Nature.

MISSION OF THE UNIVERSITY:

• To propagate equality education in flexible and blended mode all over the State
• To provide facility of Quality & Life-Long education to the intending learner
• To contribute to the existing body of knowledge through research and extension activities
• To provide access to different skill-enhancing educational programs
• To collaborate with other Higher Education Institutions for academic and research endeavours
• To provide education in vernacular language and making it available at low cost to the underprivileged
• To integrate technological tools in the pedagogy for facilitating the learning experiences
• To introduce post graduate and under graduate programs in a phased manner and constituently upgrade its teaching-learning policy
• To incorporate value-added, vocational and technical courses in its curriculum
• To enhance participative administration and management for all the stakeholders in academic and administrative governance
• Provide specific need-based education and training opportunities for continuous professional development and skill upgradation to in-service professionals, and
• To render services for the development of the State in particular and the Nation in general in order to sensitize the learners towards a humanistic and democratic eco-system and respect for Nature.

THE OBJECTIVE OF THE UNIVERSITY SHALL BE :

1. to advance and disseminate learning and knowledge by different means, including the use of any communication technology;
2. to provide opportunities for higher education to a larger segment of the population and to promote the educational well being of the community in general;
3. to encourage the open University and distance education systems in the educational pattern of the state.
